4th of July Contoocook River Scramble

A brilliant 4th of July sun shone over the Contoocook River on Thursday as 75 paddlers, and their families and friends gathered for another paddling celebration of Independence Day.  Hot and humid though it was, good cheer and good sportswoman/manship insured a midday of fun and top drawer competition.  The Shearin family, paddling C-4, sighted a mature bald eagle soaring half way up the coarse, which added inspiration to the day. The turkey roast and pool time bolstered us after racing.  Thanks to all of you who brought wonderful contributions for post-race feasting!!
