Mystic River Herring Run

 I was sitting on the parking lot at the Blessing of the Bay Parking lot at 6:00 AM on Sunday morning watching the sheets of rain blow through and I wondered whether we would be able to hold the races and if anyone would show up. I talked to the Everett Harbormaster and he was recommending that we not run either race. Then I thought about my conversations with Dan Rabinkin and Mike Ripple the day before and I realized that people were going to show up to race. Thanks to both of them for their enthusiasm and support. Despite the weather 20 hardy runners and 17 intrepid paddlers did come out to race support the Mystic River Watershed Association. The energy of the competitors and volunteers was tremendous. Thanks to all who made the race possible.  - Mark Jacobson
